I've not seen that message for ages - what Linux distribution and dnprogs are you using? If the dnprogs is recent can you run it under strace and send me the output please? > And half the control keys don't work in software that uses them (like > pine). Thanks. None of the line editting keys work in ctermd :-( CTERM defines facilities for local command-line editting (for line efficiency I presume) but they are not documented in the publicly available specifications so we haven't been able to implement them. It's a pain I know - I keep a bug open on sourceforge about it. If you want a terminal session from VMS to Linux that allows line-editting you might like to try latd on Linux and SET HOST/LAT on VMS. patrick |

Hi. Ok. I have a VAX 4000/700A running OpenVMS/VAX 7.2 connected to my ethernet. If I issue "sethost 3.1" from the linux box, I get a session on my VAX, which works perfectly. And if I issue "sethost 3.1" from the linux box, then I "set host 3.1023" from my VAX, the it says: Warning: no access to tty (Inappropriate ioctl for device). Thus no job control in this shell. And half the control keys don't work in software that uses them (like pine). If I sit at the console of the VAX, and I "set host 3.1023", the same message appears, and I lose all the control keys, as well as backspace (I tried remove too, and that didn't work either). Thanks. Peace... Sridhar |
