Due to popular demand I am currently writing an llogin program for latd, which will allow users to do "llogin latservice" from the command-line rather than having to get the system administrator to create /dev/lat devices. As with latcp it is modelled on the Tru64 version of the command with a few "extras". If you fancy having a go with it then check out the current CVS tree of latd and let me know how you get on. It's not finished yet (read: may crash latd) but I'd be grateful for any feedback. patrick |

I have just uploaded the new DECnet progs package to the Debian master machine so they should hit unstable quite shortly. If anyone is running Debian unstable and a 2.4.1 kernel then maybe you would like to try the following in the next week or so: apt-get update apt-get install dnet-progs This should download, configure and install the following set of packages: dnet-common 2.08-1 libdnet 2.08-1 dnet-progs 2.08-1 There is also a libdnet-dev 2.08-1 with the programming libs and headers. The increased version number really only reflects the new debianisation (though there is a small metadata fix in FAL). Expect to see the version numbers skyrocket as I fix problems with the package and update it. If you're not on Debian then don't worry too much about getting out-of date - most of the updates will be Debian-specific and any that are not will be folded into a new "general" release sometime when the Debian one has stabilised. Of course the full changes are available in CVS. If you do try the new Debian installation please let me know how you get on even if it's just a quick note to say "OK" ! patrick |

Eduardo had ported dapfs to the 2.4.0 kernel so that is now available for download from the usual place http://linux-decnet.sourceforge.net/download.html I've also made a small modification to it so it will patch 2.4.1 too - that is available seperately. patrick |

Has been updated as I forgot the debconf templates file. Sorry. patrick |
