The perl extension is now on CPAN. See http://search.cpan.org/search?query=SWF&mode=module Now more people will know about ming. :-) It is a very first try. Some things need still to be cleaned up, I know. I named that release 0.4.0-beta6_1 (_1 means developer test release numbering), so when beta6 of ming is released I will set version to 0.4.0-beta6 (or what the name of next release will be) This release contains currently only the perl-ext part, not the ming c sources. For getting test feedbacks from the diverse perl community I think that the ming c source must be released finally there too, so that automatic test build engines/bots (search a dist, download dist, test, report back) can test. An example of a perl module on cpan that contains c-sources too is DBD::SQLite, but the c-sources are only a few c-files in base directory. Peter Liscovius |

Ok. *now*. it's really fixed for me. 'make check' is failing, as exepcted, due to the changes in the SetBackgroundTag which was previously forced in the SWF and now it isn't anymore. We should then regenerate all the tests in the binding (make gen would do that) and make sure the swftoXXX don't force setting a background if no SetBackgroundTag is found in the SWF. The site throws error pages when http://www.libming.net/moin.cgi/TitelIndex or http://www.libming.net/moin.cgi/WortIndex called. Who is responsible for that wiki? Further there still is no edit button, even when I log in as user. Who is currently responsible for http://ming.sf.net/ How can I/we add/change something there? e.g. writing an article about a ming/swf topic, or a question-answer page, or performance analysis of different approaches doing stuff with ming/swf/actionscript .... ? peterdd |

Hi Zou,
i think i found a clean way to implement such a feature for ming. Attached is
a preliminary patch.
I introduced a new method on a SWFDisplayItem object called
SWFDisplayItem_flush(item). This method does basicly the same thing as the
SWFMovie_nextFrame() call but also clears all flags of the item and prevents
a second place/remove when calling nextFrame() (in theory at least ;)).
This example code should produce the pattern you need:
int main()
{
SWFAction action1 = newSWFAction("trace(1);");
SWFAction action2 = newSWFAction("trace(2);");
SWFAction action3 = newSWFAction("trace(3);");
SWFMovie m = newSWFMovie();
SWFShape s1 = newSWFShape();
SWFShape s2 = newSWFShape();
SWFDisplayItem shapeItem1;
SWFDisplayItem shapeItem2;
shapeItem1 = SWFMovie_add(m, s1);
SWFDisplayItem_flush(shapeItem1);
SWFMovie_add(m, action1);
shapeItem2 = SWFMovie_add(m, s2);
SWFDisplayItem_flush(shapeItem2);
SWFMovie_add(m, action2);
SWFDisplayItem_remove(shapeItem1);
SWFDisplayItem_flush(shapeItem1);
SWFMovie_add(m, action3);
SWFDisplayItem_remove(shapeItem2);
SWFDisplayItem_flush(shapeItem2);
SWFMovie_save(m, "flush.swf");
return 0;
}
Happy Ming-Hacking :)

Hi Klaus, In Gnash's testsuite, many of the testcases are based on Ming. Tags order control in the source level would be a interesting feature. As we found, tags order affects the overall actions execution order of the SWF file. Basically, we'd like to do something like this(within or without the same frame): PLACE_OBJECT DO_ACTION PLACE_OBJECT DO_ACTION REMOVE_OBJECT DO_ACTION REMOVE_OBJECT ... But Ming(beta4) seems always group the above tags(no matter how you organize the source code) as follows: DO_ACTION DO_ACTION PLACE_OBJECT PLACE_OBJECT REMOVE_OBJECT REMOVE_OBJECT .... Although swfc could handle the above case perfectly as we need, but it also lacks of some other features that Ming does well. So we have to switch between them frequently. And that's really inconvenient. --zou |

I'm pretty much in favor of packaging the core lib separately from the bindings. The need to keep all the bindings in sync is also a problem which slows down development of the core library. --strk; |

When running configure ./configure --disable-python --disable-php --disable-tcl It tries to do some work in the extension directories too. Why? IMHO it isn't needed and I should even be able to delete the unneeded extension dirs? Reason: Want prepare the release for only one language extension with c-source included on a repository for that programming language. (perl CPAN.org) Probably get rid of autotools finally for that and clean up, but want just start with a working starting point. peterdd |

The media examples in test/Media are relative huge. While it is good to have some real world and also some bigger examples for testing available, this is IMHO not good when it comes to distribution. The test/Media/audio01.mp3 is really annoying as a test audio file. The start is soo quiet, I check always if the failure is on my audio equipment/mixer. :-o. After 5 seconds! silence the user can hear the music. Until you assume an error in ming, your script, somewhere else and maybe cancel the test.... peterdd ps: hopeful now pass the "sf paranoid mail body guards" |

It turns out we have worst problems here. 'make' fails in perl_ext when issued by a build dir != source dir. The problem is Action.xs (in source tree) tries to include SWF.h (in build tree) and fails in doing so. I bet there's an easy fix to this, but I'm not a Makefile.PL expert. Peter, are you ? --strk; |
