There are no such buttons defined in the original lircd config file.
Therefore:

Use irexec.

There's two possible problems.
one, you haven't got the same key names as in your
/usr/local/etc/lircd.conf file. I'm not sure what they should be as I
think
I'm using my own version of that file, and i'm not sure what kind of
hardware
you are using; a serial port one or an integrated one. if you're using
the
serial one, then do check the file, it's probably it.
two is that your commands are screwed. test them:)
> How can i switch off tv ?
depends on what program you use. if you mean xawtv, one of the easy ways
is
to use xawtv-remote, made for the purpose. It's quite handy, though I
think
sending a direct key request ('q') is a bit faster.
> How can i switch on tv without turning on xawtv by starting on a shell ?
how are `watching tv' and `running xawtv' different?
you can put the a link for the shell script/command in a menu...
> Has someone the same tv-hardware like me and can send me his .lircrc ?
I think I technically have the same, however I haven't got bothered to
actually making a good .lircrc.

Hi ! I have the tv card Miro PCTVpro incl. radio and remote control installed which is now supported in version 0.6.1 of lirc. Here are a some lines of my .lircrc: begin prog = xawtv button = CH+ config = setstation next end begin prog = xawtv button = VOL+ config = volume inc end begin prog = xawtv button = 1 config = keypad 1 end begin prog = xawtv button = MUTE config = volume mute end begin prog = xawtv button = 1 config = keypad 1 end The following functions with the remote control runs: Mute/Unmute the sound and select tv-channel by pressing the number How can i switch to higher or lower tv-channel ? Pressing the keys CH+ or - doesn't work. Also switching to higher or lower sound doesn't work. How can i switch off tv ? How can i switch on tv without turning on xawtv by starting on a shell ? Has someone the same tv-hardware like me and can send me his .lircrc ? Thanks, Dirk |

I've been having trouble with a program called MP3SBIR that uses LIRC to =
control an MP3 player. I've been working on figuring out where the =
problem is, and why it won't work on my computer. I'm using lirc =
0.6.0... I inserted some debugging code into the program, and I've =
basically figured out that the mp3sbcontrol library works fine, as does =
lirc. From what I've=20
figured out, the problem is somewhere in the interface between lircd and =
mp3sbir, maybe the lirc client library changed and mp3sbir wasn't =
updated? Here's the section of code:
while((ret=3Dlirc_nextcode(&code))=3D=3D0 && code!=3DNULL) {
while((ret=3Dlirc_code2char(remote.config,code,&ircode))=3D=3D0 &&=20
ircode!=3DNULL) {
cout<<ircode;
if (strcasecmp("PLAY",ircode)=3D=3D0){
mp3.play(); =20
According to mp3sbir, it has no problem up to this point - it connects =
to the mp3sb socket and initializes with lircd with no problem. But, =
the line I insterted (cout<<ircode;) never seems to be executed, because =
no matter how many buttons i push on the remote, there are no messages. =
Ideas anyone?

It is telling you exactly what the situation is. mode2 only works with pulse/space type receivers. The Hauppauge TV card receiver is not one of these, so you can't use mode2 with it, because there is no way to get the information that mode2 plots from the Hauppauge receiver. -- -Matt Disc space -- the final frontier! |

This seemed the most appropriate mailing list for this topic (that I know of). Please let me know if I should be posting this somewhere else. Anyway, here's my problem: I'm using Lirc with an IRMan, irmp3, and irexec. Everything's working fine. My problem is that I would also like to use *xmms* with my remote. I've installed the lirc-xmms-plugin-1.0 but when I try to program the keys in xmms, nothing happens. I've tried stopping the irmp3 and irexec daemons. I don't remember changing anything in lirc to support the xmms plugin. Did I miss something? In xmms, The "General Plugins" list shows "IRman Control 1.0.1 [libir.so]" and "LIRC Plugin 1.0 [libirc.so]". Should I enable both? One? I can only configure the "IRman Control". The device is correct (/dev/ttyS0) but when I select a button to program, and press a button on= =20 the remote, the plugin doesn't see the signal. Any help would be really appreciated. I hope you're not using the kernel bttv tho - if you are, that's probably why you're having problems. In that case, get gerd knorr's 0.7.3x bttv package from http://me.in-berlin.de/~kraxel/bttv.html I'm using the remote on my hauppauge 401 w/o probiems using bttv 0.7.35 and a CVS download of lirc from about 3 weeks ago. The bttv code in the 2.2 kernel is mostly ornamental at this point, gerd's tree is far more advanced. - Eric |

Hi, I have compiled lirc-0.6.1 with 2.5.2 i2c stack in order to get my TV-card's (Hauppage) ir receiver to work, btw. kernel version is 2.2.14. Yes, I've read from docs that all tv card drivers need >2.4.x kernel to work, but I determined that only critical feature between 2.2.x and 2.4.x is the newer i2c stack - is it? So, the problem is that mode2 prints out message: "This program is only intended for receivers supporting the pulse/space layer. Note that this is no error, but this program simply makes no sense for your receiver." I was a bit of surprised because with lirc 0.6.1pre1 I managed to get little more further, that time mode2 printed out something like: "error: can't open /dev/lirc" Both time I followed instructions as follows: ./configure make make install add to /etc/conf.modules line "char-major-61 lirc_haup" depmod modprobe lirc_dev modprobe lirc_haup and next try to execute mode2 I'd appreciate much if someone would tell me what I'm doing wrong or do I just have to install newer kernel? =) Thanks in advance! my first guess is that the receiver is't matched to the transmitter; I myself have a miro/pinnacle receiver that cam e with my tv card, it is serial based, as in it sends bits. most other rc's use strange kinds of modulation. --b > Hello everybody ! > > This is my first mail and I hope that someone knows how to solve my > problem. Hello everybody ! This is my first mail and I hope that someone knows how to solve my problem. I tried to get lirc to work with Cajun but I did not get so far. I used a Pioneer Remote Control (CU-PD046) and tried to capture a signal from it. I pushed a key, a signal appeared. I push it again and up to five other signals appear. I push it again, ... and so on. Whats wrong ? I found a key table for the remote control in the internet but i do not know how to use it. I hope someone is able to help me. You will need the lirc_serial kernel module.
Is this anything to worry about?

No relevant changes were made since pre2.
0.6.1: 07/21/00
* added support for PCTV (pro) receiver by Pinnacle Systems (Bart Alewijnse)
* lircd now can be configured to use syslogd for log output
Thanks to Rainer Clasen for the suggestion.
* irexec has a --daemon option to easily start it from an init script
Thanks to Eric Crahen for the suggestion.
* added RC-MM support
* added RC-6 support
* added support for Slink-e by Nirvis Systems (Max Spring)

Change the link /dev/lirc so it points to the correct device, i.e. /dev/ttyS1 (cua* are obsolete). Christoph |

I make sure /dev/lircd is writeable by my group, but continues being refused the connection. I have only obtained to make to function the programs of test of libirman: test_io, test_func, etc. When I bind daemon lircd, stops mouse. Mouse this in / dev/cua0 and irman this in / dev/cua1. What more I can make? Tanks |

Make sure /dev/lircd is writeable by your group. Also, sending html email to a distribution list is considered poor nettiquite. - Eric > how much I try to initiate irxevent in the terminal, or any one of the = > other tools is emitted following mensage: > > no can connect for socket. =20 > Refused connection. |

Yeah, I was going to suggest that one but EIO says it's out of stock. I could swear someone else had them too (www.computersurplusoutlet.com maybe? Not www.compgeeks.com - they have refurbished Logitech Cordless Desktop setups tho) - Eric > > > Just wondering, what would it take to make your keyboard or mouse > > wireless?
