Hello I am trying to copy one file from one ntfs partition to another ntfs partition. The requirement is that it should preserve its create time. Command used: ntfscp /dev/sdb1 /srcmedia/sda1/birthrecord.txt birthrecord.txt But i found that the timestamp changes. The disk space should be allocated too but the file content should not be filled with zeros, so only the clusters should be marked as allocated. I took a look at the write functions but I am not sure which are needed to allocate clusters and which part does write the file content. Where do I have to start? Can someone give me a advice? Or should I implement a fallocate function for ntfs? Would this be better? Thanks in advance Tobias PS: I am using kernel 2.6.24 and ntfsprogs 2.0.0 |

Dear Sirs, I am runnung an XP SP 2 on a partition in Mac Book Pro under OS 10.6.2. I am using Winclone 2.2. It went well for ca. 2 months now. Suddenly, on restore, winclone fails to mount the selected image. Here is the segment of the log showing the error: " /usr/bin/hdiutil attach -nomount "/Volumes/DATA/200 Drive images/204 Mac Pro 7/XP pro SP2/091223XPnewPDFprogs.winclone/Windows.sparsebundle" diskimages-helper(333,0x100781000) malloc: *** error for object 0x10011b100: pointer being freed was not allocated *** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug hdiutil: attach failed - No child processes " I tried on 4 images I keep in my Archive which all worked before: The same error. Since my running XP is now giving me a problem and no backup works anymore, I would be extremely grateful for a hint, where I could search for the problem. I think I have donated already earlier.
