Welcome to the Pearl MATE 5.0 Series



Installation Notes:

All 5.0 series releases boot into the desktop without login screen

To install simply choose Install icon on desktop and follow easy instruction.

You may install along side your current Windows or other Linux distros installed on your computer / laptop.



The Live session username is "pearl" however neither username nor password is needed to install Pearl MATE 5 series.

5.0 64bit released 12/26/2016

Our first release with Linux Mint style updating and software management.

Unique features from Pearl as oppose to standard Mint install include
Mate Tweak from Ubuntu MATE with customized Pearl Linux panel layouts
as well as many other standard Pearl defaults including compiz effects,
thunar file manager (default), etc...

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING UPGRADING SYSTEM

The Pearl Updating system will show new release available however 5.2 is still in BETA.
Please do not upgrade to new release This release is currently the stable new release.

5.0 32bit released 2/25/2017

CHANGES from first releases
-----------------------------

1) removed desktop settings dialog as mate tweak handles all options.

2) Minor bug fixes on the Pearl OSX Theme.

3) Added German Locales (language) to default image as requested by many.
FULL language support. As requested by so many. US and German are supoorted out of box.

4) First Pearl release to use a Windows style layout (1 bottom panel, no bottom dock) as default.

5) Uses CAJA as default file manager and Mate Terminal as default Terminal (Unlike other Pearl Releases).
Quick link to Pearl's advanced PearlDEV Thunar File Manager on App menu favorites screen.

6) Added desktop icon to quickly show you how to switch to Pearl's normal default macOSX style layout.
A unique feature of Pearl is the ability change complete system layout in 1 minute using just a few mouse clicks.

7) Default theme changed to Pearl-X theme with Pearl-Y icons. Choose DEFAULT under the Appearances icon in Control center.

8) Added software that is pre installed by default including more games and multimedia software as well as the lastest
Chromium Web Browser as default instead of Firefox, also added latest version of Seamonkey.

9) Added Conky and Conky Manager with default Pearl theme which includes time, date, hd stats, memory stats lan IP, Public IP.

10) Added JLiveCD, software for developers that aid in clean remasters. Use this after PinguyBuilder, which is pre-installed
as well, for a complete solution for Linux developers.

General Info for all 5.0 releases:

SEAMONKEY Internet Suite is available through our repository so both 64 bit and 32 bit versions can be easily installed through software manager.

The Pearl repository also contains additional software including LinuxMultiBoot and it's available for both 32 and 64 bit versions of Pearl.
