  • Hi, I would to thank you for this distro , it's nice and beautiful and fast, I tried two versions the debian based one with openbox I liked it so much and the new one which is based on devuan with KDE , it's good but my locale language not showing in KDE and other apps , it shows English language instead , I researched in the problem and findout that the locale files of my language (Arabic) not exist in system locales folder at all. Please fix this. Thanks

Thanks for trying Essora and for the feedback . I’m glad you liked the Debian-based edition with Openbox, and also the new Devuan-based one with KDE Plasma. About the Arabic language: you’re right — on some installations the generated locales are missing (/usr/lib/locale), so KDE and other apps fall back to English. Quick fix: install/reinstall locales-all, then run sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales + sudo locale-gen, and restart your session. I’ll fix this so the installer/first boot generates the locales automatically and everything works “out of the box”. Thanks for reporting it!
  • Josejp2424 : (posted 01/2026) I really like this distribution. I would like to kinda help or even make my own rebrand of this. Quick Tip: Upon installation (especially via VM) -= DO NOT be "essora" as user, it will crash the installer. Do you have a commit? like what i mean is, do you have a forum? Big time coolness level with this distro. Lots of open space to customize and remastering, that was included is awesome. Then theres the multimedia tools.. just the simple things like this is definitely good. Thirdly, free VPN already intergrated, thats nifty, right? No AI on this penguin, thats a good thing, but can also be a bad thing.. depends i guess. I have not fully tested this distro, but I would like to keep updating others if that is available (forum). So far, ... we will see.

Hi! Thank you so much for the kind words — I’m really happy you’re enjoying Essora. Also, thanks a lot for reporting that installer issue. You’re right: using “essora” as the username can crash the installer (especially in VMs). That behavior is partly intentional on my side, because my current goal is that the remaster/snapshot is created from a *live session* workflow (so the “Essora” name is reserved for the system identity). I agree it’s confusing though, so I’ll improve this soon — at minimum I’ll add a clear warning or prevent that username from being selected during install. Right now I’m just getting back to focusing on the distro, so I don’t have a full forum yet. The community channel I’m using for updates and discussion is Telegram: essora linux And yes — respins/rebrands are totally welcome! Contributions, feedback, bug reports, and ideas are all appreciated. If you do a respin, feel free to share it in the Telegram channel so others can try it too. Thanks again for taking the time to test and write this! — josejp2424
  • Interesting project but you don't specify the differences between Eos and Excalibur so please write some more details.

You are right, and I apologize. That's correct: Eos is based on Debian with systemd, while Excalibur is based on Devuan without systemd. I'm still finishing it; they are test systems for now. The release candidate (RC) versions will be available soon.
