Translate-Gui was born out of a simple need, to be able to learn a new language. The two features most useful for the purpose were

1. Ability to translate to and from one language to other without rummaging through dropdown boxes of google translate everytime you wanted to switch the direction of translation.
2. The speech should always be in the target language, because I knew how it's said in my native language

A few other features that made way into the application were

1. Shortcut-keys to ensure a nearly mouse free operation
2. Repetition of the speech to help in grasping the pronunciation
3. Ability to work with concise/detailed definitions specially when looking up synonyms of the word
4. Dark-mode for reducing eye strain and for making it consistent with my desktop theme
