With immediate effect, SimulaBeta is available in version 3.1.0 (Challenger). This is a major upgrade that introduces a plethora of new features including statistics of simulated time series, a load, reference and modulation sequencer (LOREMOS) to simulate complex patterns of external influences on glucose homeostasis, sensitivity analysis in form of a disposition table and support for different units of measurement for insulin and glucose concentrations. A paper recently published in Nature’s Scientific Reports defines SPINA Carb, a method for calculating beta cell function (SPINA-GBeta) and insulin sensitivity (SPINA-GR). The method is based on mathematical modelling of insulin-glucose homeostasis that was supported by computer simulations with SimulaBeta. Today, the next major version of SimulaBeta has been released. SimulaBeta 2.2.0 (Malakow, named after the famous Malakow or Malakoff towers in the Ruhr metropolitan area) introduces the possibility to simulate an oral glucose tolerance test (oGTT). Additionally, several bugs have been fixed. This recommended update is available as precompiled binaries for macOS (Carbon / 32 bits and Cocoa / 64 bits) and Windows (versions for 32 and 64-bit computers on hand), and as source code for several Unix derivatives and Linux distributions.
