KodApa is happy to announce the release of OTWG 0.1.3 which brings, finally, the status of the code to the same functionality as before the e107 integration. Now, further development of features and functionality will start. If you are interested, please check http://otwg_hq.kodapa.com and contact otwg@kodapa.com for discussions on where to best contribute. The goal has been set to have a fully functional (meaning playable if not enjoyable ;-) for 0.2.0, and with the e107 integration, the time to that release has been shortened significantly while improving capabilities dramatically
Currently, the CVS holds a pre release version of what will become version 0.1.3
The code has everything that is planned for 0.1.3 with the exception of the HARM code. Check http://otwg_hq.kodapa.com and http://development.kodapa.com for further information of what is intended for 0.1.3
...are now available at http://otwg_hq.kodapa.com. The instruction describe how to install e107 and OTWG on your local machine in case you want to test the application locally
Finally, the last issues related to installing the OTWG database under the e107 framework has been sorted out, and an updated version is available for download. The OTWG site has been updated with installation instructions, please see http://otwg_hq.kodapa.com for more information
The current http://otwg.kodapa.com site has been taken down as it was running on an outdated version of MySQL which prevented the installation of e107 plug ins in a proper way
Due to an issue with malfunctioning SQL query, a bugfix relative to 0.1.0 has been released. Please also note that the installation will most likely not work on versions of MySQL older than 4.1
As soon as the validation of the 0.1.0 release has been completed on the development server, it will be released to the public
A new release of OTWG is now available for download. It replaces all previous versions which have been disabled. It also replace the graphic pack and the conceptual documentation. The graphics are now included in the release and the documentation has moved to http://otwg_hq.kodapa.com
Please note the new version require the e107 CMS to be installed prior to the OTWG installation. Check the home page for instructions on how to install properly
The current CVS version of e107 has now been validated with the latest release of e107 which is 0.7.8
No issues has been encountered when updating the e107 version
The CVS now hold the first build of the e107 integrated OTWG. Follow the instructions on http://otwg_hw.kodapa.com to install. No data is being installed at this stage, so the current CVS is for install/uninstall verification only
The current version in the CVS will not work if installed. Use the download version instead. The reason for this is that the e107 integration work require several files to be removed from the Pre Alpha setup. Among the files is the database.connect which contain the information needed for OTWG to communicate with the server and db
Following the decision to integrate with the e107 CMS, some significant changes are being made in the OTWG code and documentation. This means that the current release (0.0.2) will not be aligned with the documentation on the OTWG HQ wiki until the release of version 0.0.3 which will be integrated with e107. The target is to release 0.0.3 quite rapidly as soon as the basic functions like user admin and installation functionality is working like they should. Committing of code to the CVS is limited right now in order not to mix versions which may cause severe issues... read more
After a long consideration it has been decided to build OTWG "in" e107 (http://e107.org). There are many reasons for this, e107 has a solid login and user management system, forum and up/download functionality and much more. The major benefit is that all of these CMS functions does not need to be developed as part of OTWG, meaning the focus can be shifted to the game and game functions as such... read more
After the summer "shutdown", work is now progressing on crunching algorithms and code for Combat Resolution. Once this has been completed, an updated Pre Alpha release is to be expected
Combat Resolution is developed for Direct Ground Combat in a very limited scenario. We use one hex with two sides present.. Each side has one oversized platoon, and the AAR is at this stage extremely detailed in order to tune the CRM (Combat Resolution Model) properly. Once this is done, the CRM of course needs to be validated for different scales of units and hexes, so if there are people willing to run test servers (PHP/MySQL) and develop scalable CRM's, do not hesitate to contact us
With the start of the development of the Combat Resolution System and the Hex Action Resolution System, the stuff available on the development (or demo) server at http://otwg.kodapa.com will be decontented shortly, and will not be representative of the intended look and feel of the finished product
Please use the new issue, bug and release tracker available at http://development,kodapa.com to report any of the above. Support Requests should still be managed through the Sourceforge site for now. This may be introduced at OTWG-HQ at a later date
Please use http://development.kodapa.com/ for managing bugs etc from this date on. This only apply to developers of OTWG for now. Users should still stick with the Sourceforge reporting system
Have been revamping the db model, and will spend another couple of weeks refining it. Most likely tuning of different algorithms like combat resolution, manufacturing and logistics will start after that. More as it develops...
The OTWG HQ has now opened. It is a less technical site based on MediaWiki where all documentation of OTWG will be located
Content will be added continously and will over time replace the concept documentation currently released as a PDF
OTWG HQ can be found at http://otwg_hq.kodapa.com
Welcome!
The very first release of source code and graphic elements have now been made. Make sure to read the instructions in the files as they require some hands on work before they´ll work
We have also gotten permission from Pål Woje to use the unit symbols from the application COCAT. These symbols are included in the Graphic Pack release that was made. Credit goes to Pål and Stefan Sheckells. Also make sure to have a look at the shipart provided by Cobra Aus
http://otwg.kodapa.com/src/game/map_display.php now has a first take on how a map may look like in OTWG. You need to register at the development see the page...
Today, we are pleased to welcome Alvaro Martin and Cooper Stevenson to the OTWG project. Both have extensive experience from wargaming design and will without a doubt help move OTWG in the right direction
Welcome to the team!
Check the development server at http://otwg.kodapa.com where it is now possible to edit and update scenarios, or at least the basic background. More updates will follow shortly after which it is time for the pre Alpha release (I hope)
Sakarias Johansson has joined the team. He is an experienced gamer. Welcome Sakarias!
Captain Cruft was added to the OTWG team today. This means we are now 4 people involved
This is a good thing as the development server functionality is increasing each day and some serious testing and database development will likely start within the next weeks
