** UPDATE - Oct 31, 2014
Looks like the Weather Underground URL that I was using has changed in terms of content/payload, and the previous parser logic doesnt work. So I have to dig in further to the formal Weather Underground API to source the required data for DreamScreen.
Suggest you all start to get API keys for your individual use, and I will post a fix with instructions how-to fix this in a future post.
Go to this URL, http://www.wunderground.com/weather/api/ ;
and purchase a Developers API key license. It is Free. You will be using that key in the API calls.
** UPDATE *** Oct 30, 2014
There is an issue with the "current conditions" function, which has started at Oct 29, 4:39 pm NYT. I am investigating the root cause and hope to have a fix within a day or 2. Watch this site for more updates.
In April 2014, the WeatherBug weather data provider decommissioned the API which the HP DreamScreen uses for the weather application, effectively disabling it.
Both HP and WeatherBug have been contacted via email and support forums, and to date, have replied to inquiries, but done nothing to remedy this situation.
If you are interested in restoring your DreamScreen weather application, and have a Windows PC and a few minutes to spare to install a custom service, then this site is for you!
This site provides Windows and Linux based solutions using the Weather Underground data service to resolve the weather application issue.
Click here -> Windows-based Solution
I recommend the Windows-based Solution which requires a Windows PC to be running to serve weather data to the DreamScreen. It does NOT have to be running all the time, just during the time you want the DreamScreen to actively display weather data.
For the technical users and to make this page less frightening, I've moved the original page which includes DreamScreen and Weather Api examples to this page: Linux-based Weather Data service
I hope this site will help you continue to use your DreamScreen as a Weather app.
