I am curious to see just how many people have implemented Ethereal Realms 3.1.0 and above. Since the migration of PostgreSQL scripts, there seems to have been a wane in interest overall.
While 3.6.0 is the newest release, the design portion is still in flux from 3.5.0 and what the site is currently using. This will not be corrected for some time, pending the completion of the design overhaul, one that would delay the release of this version for longer then desired.
However, this does not affect how the scripts work. It simply means that the graphics may not look as nice when initially setting up the servers.
Ethereal Realms 3.5.0 marks two milestones. The first being that this release now allows for an upgrade from the 3.4.0 release without a complete install. Allowing administrators to quickly implement a new release without the complete backup and restore process.
The second milestone is the marked attempt to separate the chatting component from the gallery/homepage component available to contributors. Still considered experimental due to designer lag time, this new feature would allow someone to implement a gallery only version of the site. ... read more
After having had my fill of CROND mail saying a table did not exist, I opted to remedy the problem and incorporate an encryption module as to make the code a bit cleaner.
Version 1.0.1 of Ethereal Realms was made today. A few bug fixes and additions that should of been made in the previous release where made. As of yet, no other releases are planned until a complete rewrite or bugs are brought to my attention.
You can get the latest version here: http://download.sourceforge.net/ethereal-realms/ethereal-1_0_1.tar.gz
This is to annouce the release of the first complete version of Ethereal Realms. The chat server is now at such a stage that any errors messages seen in the system logs should be minimal. Of course if bugs do pop up feel free to use the bug submission system or email me at mfoster at users.sourceforge.net.
Any and all features mentioned in the previous annoucement has been successfully integrated into the code bad. This also includes the auditing function, which many may find useful in the case of supervisor conflicts.
After having looked at my system logs, I noticed one or two things that I had overlooked in version 0.9.0 as a result I have begun work on version 1.0 and made a few design decisions that will affect the implementation of a few features.
Guest, and puppet restrictions will NOT be implemented it was deemed somewhat redundant since the registration is easy and expiration is automatic. Also, guest restrictions seems to counter what a public realms function truly is. I determined that for now private and publics could remain as they are with a possible inclusion of restrictions to private realms, as to allow people more privacy. This does open up the concern with supervisory controls over private realms however. ... read more
