Hi Steven et al., I'm finally getting into using some blur features I haven't used before: blueX7 and the mixer. Steven, nice work on both! I have a question on mixer usage: I'd love to be able to set left/right panning values on channels, but I don't see a way to do it. For context, I'm using several PianoRoll objects, each of which uses a blueX7 instrument. Any suggestions? - Dave |

Hi Dave, The Mixer and channels was and is still a bit of a tricky thing to figure out. I forgot the rules we worked out here on the list, but I think when a mono channel out comes to the blueMixer it gets split to to channels (duplicated signals), but if the effect only has a single in, it won't get split. That might not be implemented that way at the moment (don't remember if I got around to it) but I think that was the goal. I would recommend making an pan effect in your effects library, taking in stereo and mixing to mono, then applying the pan. You could create a slider to do the panning. Sorry, I'm in a bit of a rush and can't spend more time to look into it and think about it at the moment, we're packing up our apartment today so it is a bit hectic here! Best of luck with it and hope to be able to spend more time with these things soon! steven On 6/24/06, Dave Seidel <da...@su...> wrote: > Hi Steven et al., > > I'm finally getting into using some blur features I haven't used before: > blueX7 and the mixer. Steven, Thanks for the suggestion of making an effect to handle the panning. I'll give that a try. If I come up with something generally useful, I will make it a contribution. - Dave Steven Yi wrote: > Hi Dave, > > The Mixer and channels was and is still a bit of a tricky thing to > figure out. Hi Dave, I'd be very interested to see what you come up with, and would love it if you could share it too! Oh well, I didn't end up making a panning effect this time, but I'm sure I will at some point. - Dave Steven Yi wrote: > Hi Dave, > > I'd be very interested to see what you come up with, and would love it > if you could share it too! Thanks! > > steven |

Hi Dave, Writing panning effects is one thing, but between that and finshing a new piece, I'm very glad the latter happened first! ^_^ I'm leaving tomorrow for Poland but after settling in there should be back to composing and programming so if you don't get to a panning effect, I'm sure I will be taking a look at the mixer code shortly so might create one then too. Thanks for sharing the new piece! steven p.s. - Would you be interested to have this piece included with blue as an example? I am thinking of adding my etude as well. Hi Steven, You are welcome to add my piece as an example. And it's a great idea to add Etude, which is one of the best electronic pieces I've heard in years - nuanced and gorgeous. - Dave Steven Yi wrote: > Hi Dave, > > Writing panning effects is one thing, but between that and finshing a > new piece, I'm very glad the latter happened first! ^_^ > > I'm leaving tomorrow for Poland but after settling in there should be > back to composing and programming so if you don't get to a panning > effect, I'm sure I will be taking a look at the mixer code shortly so > might create one then too. > > Thanks for sharing the new piece! > steven > > p.s. - Would you be interested to have this piece included with blue > as an example? Thanks Dave for the very kind compliment and for allowing inclusion of your piece! I will be adding both shortly. ^_^ steven On 7/3/06, Dave Seidel <da...@su...> wrote: > Hi Steven, > > You are welcome to add my piece as an example.
