Thank you for reporting a problem. If I understand it correctly, Parallels uses a virtual video card, that emulates OpenGL 2.1. A virtual video card isn’t supported by Biosphere right now.

The current development version has better support for OpenGL 2.1, so you can try that, but I guess it won’t work either. Development versions can be found here:
    https://sourceforge.net/projects/biosphere3d/files/DevelopmentVersions/

An option may be, to run Windows via Boot Camp on your iMac.

    Best regards, Steffen

      Hello Stephen,

Parallels is a virtual machine that allows one to run Windows on a Mac without rebooting.

Other Windows applications that I run under parallels do not report this problem.

      Regards,
      Jay

    Hello Jay,

The 3D Video Adapter that Parallels emulates behaves in some way different than a real GPU and that makes Biosphere to fail during its initialization. If I had access to a Parallels installation like yours, I could look more deeply into the problem and find a solution.

A few years back we had a native version for Mac OS X, which wasn’t developed further due to time constrains. Maybe it gets reactivated in the future.

After some googling I learned, that Parallels has a setting for the available video memory. Maybe it is currently set to low, a value of 2 GB is advised for Biosphere.

For now, I’m sorry that I can’t help you any more with running Biosphere under Parallels.

    Best regards, Steffen
