A few days now and I'm really enjoying using kmttg without mp4 encoding. I'm finding that all my less capable devices (tablets and cell phones) are able to play the decrypted transport streams (ts or MPEG-2) without any problem. So I might not bother with mp4 (MPEG-4) encoding. I'm wondering if others have also found that MPEG-2 is within the capabilies of all their devices and therefore there is little need to encode their movies in MPEG-4. Anyone? But honestly I've not spent much time watching...
Comskip, ffmpeg appear to have a GPU enabled versions: http://www.kaashoek.com/comskip/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1812 https://developer.nvidia.com/ffmpeg There are alternatives to handbrake that are GPU enabled: http://www.video-pedia.com/2017/05/12/handbrake-h265-hevc-encoding/ The state of affairs with mencoder is less clear: http://www.universalmediaserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=986 And lastly there is tivodecode which does not seem to need much acceleration. I think it decrypts your Tivo files with...
Hi everyone, Before posting this topic I first searched for any discussion about the use of a GPU for speeding up kmttg encoding times. I've been using kmttg for a couple years on my iMac. I love it, and I am very grateful to Kevin Moye for taking the time to write one of the best Java applications that I have ever seen. I would like very much to have a version of kmttg that can utilize a GPU to increase the encoding rate and shorten the encoding time to convert Tivo movies to mp4. I'm a former software...
