No, PATH is not used for data files at all. You may try strace to see what's going wrong.

Also INTERPRET "RETURN" doesn't return, INTERPRET "RETURN 0" works fine. REXX-Regina_3.9.7 5.00 18 Mar 2025 Found by Ross Patterson.
