I initially developed AutoHDR to improve some simple holiday snaps. It's mostly my own method of mapping the highlights and shadows in an image which accurately maps edges and avoids introducing halos that you get in a lot of commercial products. I call it Pseudo-HDR because it works on a single exposure so there isn't actually eny extra dynamic range, it just makes a lot more of what is available.
