Yeah, I've killed a couple of years of my spare time while I've been developing a big update (rebranding, actually) to the project: animated 3D, moddability, advanced "AI" settings, infinite world with various biomes, etc. Hell, I've even developed a separate game engine just for this. Unfortunately, there are now just too many "idle games" (e.g., clickers) on the market, which can offer more "complex gameplay", so it is unlikely that I will return to such kind of project anytime soon.
