Bitty (?) Unsure how to parse. Anyway, since you were nice enough to make your contribution, I thought I should tell you how well your advice has served me: Greatly. Since installing the version that you had recommended, I have not had any of the strange errors I was getting. I did get one error message, but I don't even remember what it was, only that it wasn't the one that was irritating the dickens out of me, and it did happen only once, I can only figure that a Windows update screwed up something...
I checked out your link and will see if it solves the mysterious problem. It doesn't matter if it's 32-bit or 64-bit because the application demands so little in terms of system resources. Since the problem cannot be reproduced at will, not having determined the precise circumstances under which the problem arises, only by using the new version for a protracted amount of time will I be able to say, "Hey, yeah—that did it!" Funny about the latest version: I had searched for a newer version right before...
Sometimes when I attempt to conduct a search for a folder or folders given or sharing a particular case-sensitive name or partial name, there is a semi-fatal error, semi-fatal in that it doesn't kill the program, but fails to actually carry out the command. A pop-up error is generated saying something about a Windows error. I don't remember what the exact message is, and I can't reproduce it upon command, as the application "decides" to generate the error "whenever it feels like it." Now, to get...
I really appreciate your help [even though I can't find the interface your PNG shows], but I stumbled on a fix through experimentation, possible only by using Advanced properties: Change "Do not add directories (except local drives) to the list" to "Add drives and directories of enabled databases," then go to Databases tab: Select default database, Edit, add desired drives. NOW it works, and scans the indicated removable drives. Before I had done this, when I attempted to add removable drives, it...
The concerned drive appears in the drives list…however, the box is unchecked, and refuses to be checked. That's why I had to use the Advanced button, and that's where it OSTENSIBLY accepts the addition of the drive that already appears in the list…but refuses to add it with a chewck, nor does it check the drive already listed. So…I'm astounded you can do this while I cannot. I've been studying computers since 1984, and have a degreee in Computer Science, but I'll be darned if I can figure out how...
