Oh I see. It does work as you describe. So is there no way to prevent search terms being written in the "Named" combo box list in the first place? If so, I guess I can live with that. Oh I just tried, it clears as soon as I press the x button without even truly closing the program so that setting is better than I thought. I appreciate your help, jmj! Thanks again.

Hi jmj, thanks for your reply. I'm not sure why some files were not searchable and some were (I was mistaken about hyphen and underscore being the issue, it's a different pattern) but it seems to be fixed after going to the Advanced tab and UNticking "Match whole file name" (I don't remember ticking that! Oh well). As for the delete private data thing , in Settings > Advanced, I scrolled a little over half way down and I ticked "Do not save list items in "Named", "Type", and "Look In" combo boxes"...

I have a similar problem but with underscore and hyphen. I don't know if anyone will see this but I've been trying to replace VoidTools Everything (uses so much RAM and is not open source) with this very lightweight cool program. I have a few questions if someone can help. Locate32 isn't finding a file with a hyphen ( - ) and underscore ( _ ) symbols in the file name. Am I doing something wrong? Any way to fix? Is there a way to not save private data at all (like when going to Tools > Delete Private...
