About XMRig

High performance, open source, cross platform RandomX, KawPow, CryptoNight and AstroBWT CPU/GPU miner, RandomX benchmark and stratum proxy. The preferred way to configure XMRig is the JSON config file as it is more flexible and human friendly. The command line interface does not cover all features, such as mining profiles for different algorithms. Important options can be changed during runtime without miner restart by editing the config file or executing API calls. Wizard helps you create initial configuration for the miner. Workers helps manage your miners via HTTP API. Default donation 1% (1 minute in 100 minutes) can be increased via option donate-level or disabled in source code. XMRig source code available on GitHub under terms of GPLv3 license. Binary downloads and build instructions available for most popular platforms. We use a self hosted buildbot to create binaries for every commit.

Effective Ethereum mining speed is higher by 3-5% because of a completely different miner code, much less invalid and outdated shares, higher GPU load, optimized OpenCL code, optimized assembler kernels. Supports both AMD and nVidia cards (including in mixed mining rigs). It runs under Windows x64 and Linux x64. The watchdog timer checks periodically if any of the GPUs freezes and if it does, restarts the miner. Supports memory straps for AMD/NVIDIA cards. Use the -straps command-line option to activate it. Double click your Bat file to start the miner. The miner will start, run the setx commands to set those environment variables, initialize each of your GPU’s, build the DAG file on each of your GPU’s and start hashing away. Let it run for about 20 seconds and then click “s” to display your Hashing speed. Now that your miner is set up, you’re able to sit back and watch as your video cards gain you passive income every day in the form of Ethereum.

    "Useless non-working software"

    Pros: Nothing.

    The configuration wizard gives a list of non-working pools.
    Article seems to be more of the pervasive AI generated crap filling up the internet.

    Cons: Used the config wizard on the XMRig site and none of the pools they list work. All of them report an end of file error. If these developer groups cant keep their software and websites up to date then they need to stop writing and slashdot shouldn't list their "product" in a review of any kind.

    Overall: My experience has been frustrating. Currently none of the information listed here in this article or on the XMRig website is usable. This was an exercise that took 4 hours of my time I will never get back.

    Pros: It can go different algorithms.
    It is kinda fast compared to other miners.
    It is a CPU Miner (It can mine using GPU too).
    There is a configuration wizard which helps you to configure the settings for your favor.

    Cons: No GUI.
    Difficult for a beginner to set it up.
    Terminal/CMD based application.

    Overall: It brings up great hashrate but it is isn't easy to start it as it is terminal/command prompt based application.
