About SheepIt Render Farm

When the owner of a project adds their project to the queue, the service splits the animation into single frames to render, sends each frame to a connected computer and aims to optimize its choice based on the available memory, as well as the CPU/GPU power. You can add as many as you want but you can only have 2 renderings at the same time. This limit is set to avoid having a person flooding the render farm with too many projects. If the render farm is indeed flooded this limit will be temporarily lowered to 1 (It does happen, but no more than a few times a year).

    "Great free blender renderfarm"

    Pros: - Sheepit is a free and open source community blender renderfarm
    - Devs, Admins and the community are quick to respnd in case of assistance
    - the data is secure

    Cons: - sometimes the servers are overloaded, this is unfortunately a funding issue
    - the UI is a bit dated, more devs from the community could help here

    Overall: sheepit renderfarm is a free and open source community powered renderfarm. You contribute your computers processing power to render frames/projects for others and get points for it. Those points you can spend for rendering your own projects. The points are only used to determine the queue position, meaning more points, higher priority.
    I've been a user since 2018, no bigger complaints so far. The only issues arise sometimes from overloaded servers, however that's a funding issue. The devs and admins work very hard to keep the service running quite well. For support join their discord, admins and the community will help you very quickly.

    "Sheepit Renderfarm: A must use for Blender users."

    Pros: Sheepit is completely free, and far faster than any other product like Google Colab. The aspect of teams is very fun and addicting, and it seems to be completely safe.

    Cons: There were some issues I experienced in my renders with GPU rendering, where different processors would not always create the same result.

    Overall: I found it to be very pleasing to donate to art, it's a great thing that every blender user should use, and something anybody can contribute to.

    "It's fast and it's free"

    Pros: You get more than you give with SheepIt. This service requires you to render other users' projects to gain points, which you can use to render your own projects. For every frame you render, you get enough points to render approximately 4 frames of your own.
    I've had 20+ users rendering my project at once, and it was about 30x faster than rendering on my PC. No complaints about the rendering speed.
    The render client supports CPUs and NVIDIA GPUs.
    And it's free!

    Cons: Sometimes, a frame can take an extremely long time to render. It's not too much of an issue with large projects, though.
    It's not suitable for projects you must keep private, because people who render your project can see thumbnails of the frames they rendered.
    At the time of writing, SheepIT does not support AMD or Apple graphics.

    Overall: I believe SheepIT is the best free render farm. You have to render other users' frames to render your own, but it's a fair system. It's a good way to speed up your rendering and help other users.
