Anyone who wants to learn a foreign language, or companies or schools that want to help their employees or students learn a new language

About Rosetta Stone

Knowing business languages lets employees speak up. Learning new business languages takes practice. Rosetta Stone gets employees talking and perfecting their pronunciation right away. So they’ll be ready to speak for themselves and your business in no time. Employees learn best when everything they hear, speak, read, and write is in their new language. That’s what our Dynamic Immersion® method does, building language confidence from the first lesson. Fear of mistakes can make learners shy about speaking a new language. Our TruAccent™ speech engine lets employees dial in their pronunciation so they’ll be confident when it’s time to talk business. It’s a big leap from lessons to talking with co-workers and customers. Tutoring sessions with native speakers provide conversation practice so learners become naturals at speaking their new language.

    "Expensive Flashcards"

    Posted 2020-11-23

Pros: The best part of Rosetta Stone is that you can hear the words being spoken. For a system that's primarily a fancy digital flashcard system, this is really useful and Rosetta Stone was doing this long before many of the others currently in the field.

Cons: At the end of the day though, Rosetta Stone is basically just really expensive flashcards though. You can find free or low cost resources with the exact same stuff elsewhere with even more features.

Overall: Rosetta Stone was a big deal way back in the day, but it's nothing special these days. With the likes of Duolingo and many other language learning apps right on your phone, there's so much better competition out there. But it does deserve props for being one of the earliest ones out there that was widely available.
