"Takes your money, but no registration code - website no longer working"

    Edited 2026-02-16

Pros: Nothing. I had an earlier version I had purchased in 2008 that did work, but now this company appears to no longer exist.

Cons: This software cannot be used. BrightSpring Market LLC (doing business as "FastSpring", aka "FSPRG")- the company name that accepts your payment for this upgrade, will happily take your money and send you a message stating that you will get a registration code in as little as an hour ... But you will not. And you will not get your money back. Readerware appears to be out of business, as their website can no longer be found. Attempting to contact Brightspring or Readerware will get you no where.

Overall: Used to be a legitimate program, but is now just a rip-off that will grab your money and keep it, while giving you nothing in return.

"Has Readerware corporation gone out of business?"

    Posted 2026-02-05

Pros: I have been using Readerware for 12+ years, currently running Release 4.1. It does what I need to track my library items, at least until this past Sunday.

Cons: On Sunday Feb 1 I could not use the auto-catalog feature; the software reported it could not get to wherever it goes to look up the book data when I enter the ISBN. When I tried to go to the Readerware website, I got a "we can't find that" message. Anyplace I've spotted that purports to offer RW downloads has a Release number lower than what I'm currently running.

Overall: It just abut makes me sick to think that the company may have quietly gone out of business. I can still use the software, but I have to hand-type the information on each title.

    "Readerware Customer Support Lacking"

    Posted 2025-12-12

Pros: Over all it is a good product. I started with the version 3 bundle and later tried version 4. But I am unable to get any response from customer support.

Cons: I am unable to get the registration codes after paying for the upgrade for the version 4 bundle. I sent two emails but got no response from the company. I am very frustrated and disappointed with Readerware's lack of support. I am unable to use the software without the registration codes.

Overall: No customer support despite the website claiming that they will provide support. I paid for the upgrade for the version 4 bundle but did not receive the registration codes yet. It has been over a week so far.
