Percona Backup for MongoDB

Pros: 1. Great alternative to enterprise proprietary software like MongoDB Enterprise and Ops Manager.
2. Cheap, easy to setup, hassle-free solution
3. Satisfies security aspects
4. Ideal choice for college students, getting the correct functionality without a massive overhead.

Cons: Struggled with some documentation and support issues, took me some time to figure it out on my own. Things in the documentation are very much abstract, you need to really dwell deep to understand the mechanism of it.

Overall: Overall It was a positive experience for me, I have been using Percona Backup for quite a while now and really am happy with the services. I used Percona Backup for MongoDB for custom-built backup by Percona, As I am a college student and does not have that much money to pay for proprietary software like MongoDB Enterprise and Ops Manager but I wanted a fully-supported community backup tool that can perform cluster-wide consistent backups in MongoDB. And thanks to Percona Backup I was able to do all this efficiently without a massive overhead. Been using it from last 8 months and really happy with the product. Definitely recommend to people especially to college students who are short on budget and want efficient and cheap solutions.

4. Point-in-time recovery is best for recovery data
5. Data is very safe in the S3 bucket

Cons: Need more elaborate documentation for easy understanding. It will be very useful for great beginners.

Overall: Overall experience is so good, and I implemented many environments and suggested them to other end users as well.

3. Easy Steps to Backup , Restore and PITR
4. Friendly tool for DBA and Administrator
5. Easy to troubleshoot

Cons: Some time getting no backup found errors , unable to get solution to fix.

Overall: It's awesome. We have configured for our product solution . Easy to use and really loved the product and I have written big blog about this in medium.

Pros: Open Source-Free, Compatible with most of Clouds, Easy to use and easy to deploy.
The server is developer friendly.

Cons: Time Consuming as backup is slower.
Other than that, no other dislikes, hoping for better features.

Overall: It is an extremely easy community backup support tool.
Am happy as the cluster backup has improved now.

Pros: The Percona backup for MongoDB Solution works for both shared as well as a classic cluster. It also supports point-in-time restore.

Cons: Percona Backup for MongoDB doesn’t work on standalone MongoDB instances.

Overall: It provides backup solutions that help to restore data from any point in history without any loss of data. The restore is instant and without a hassle.

Pros: I don't have to think about losing information if something were to happen to my external backup drive. Easy to use. No strain on my day.

Cons: Maybe a little more involved than what I need, but I'm sure the power users are happy about that.

Overall: I just wanted a way to back up information and forget about it. Now I feel confident that my files are safe. I threw away my external backup drive, which was always a liability. This software put my mind at ease.

Pros: The pros are:

Cons: The cons are
1. Only Command line interface.
2. Sometimes Slow for large data.
Hope But these cons are rectify in Future.

Overall: My first reason to use Percona-It is Open Source Software ,Yes it is free to use.The best thing is it will compatible with AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, etc. It is also integrated with MongoDB authentication.It also saves your time because it is very much reliable software which i have used. Percona uses S3 (or S3-compatible) object storage for the remote store. Percona Backup for MongoDB gives a guarantee of safety and consistency of our data.I have Used it Nearly 6 Months For me it is really impressive to me Just Go For It

Pros: Best solution for achieving consistent backups. You can use any S3 compatible storage and there is no need to install coordination service on a separate server.

Cons: Until now not faced any serious issue which can make this product bad for me.

Overall: Backups are required even though losing a single server is not fatal. Percona helps to go back in time to the best available snapshot.

Pros: The documentation part is one of the best. The support team is very helpful. The ease of configuration and use is a cherry on the cake.

Cons: There are no such cons that I can find. The product is very user-friendly and helpful and easy to use.

Overall: Overall experience is great. I would definitely recommend to use this product as it is one of the best that I have come across. One can easily understand the documentation part and get started with it.

It is fast, easy to use and has a great customer support.

Cons: Backup is a little bit slow and GUI tool doesn't exist which is a bummer.

Overall: MongoDB backups have become really easy especially because Percona backup tool is a fully community supported backup tool. The cluster backup consistency has improved a lot.

Pros: Some of the key features that I liked about this product are:
Multi OS compatibility.
Awesome encryption and compression.
Backup of running server without performance degradation.

Cons: I have nothing to complain so far with this product. Only thing is maybe the community is not as active as I want it to be.

Overall: We like the hot backups which have no downtime and is helpful for point in time restore. It is very useful since the operational logs on each shared are saved separately while the backup is still running until completion. Compatible with various cloud vendors.

Cons: Documentation is little hard to understand but support articles on 3rd party websites can compliment it.

Overall: One of the best and safest backup tools i have tried.

- Setup is difficult as it can only be used in Linux OS.

Overall: Overall okay software to take automatic backups for your MongoDB databases. It can be excellent if we have an Interface to interact with different components.

Pros: I love their simple & integrated-with-MongoDB authentication. Also crucial for me: their S3-compatible storage.

Cons: I don't have any worries about their functionalities and features, but I believe they should improve their User Interface.

Pros: The best part of the Percona backup is the consistent backup service. Also it's faster than other available services present currently. Interface of Percona backup is more user friendly and attractive.

Cons: I haven't find any cons as such till now in my short duration of work with Percona Backup. But i think documentation can be little bit improved and made more beginner friendly.

Overall: Overall it's the best backup too. Also, the support team is really active and helpful. So, it's the best open source tool which provides consistent backup along with faster and reliable performance.
