    "Overrated "

    Posted 2022-07-06

Pros: Can't say anything positive about the free version, clearly deigned badly to encourage users to pay for the subscription version.

Cons: The free version is pretty awful.
It will only allow a very limited number of characters, insufficient to even translate a short news story.
It is far from user friendly. It seems that Microsoft have tried to make it look unnecessarily fancy. Paste and copy are not obvious and the display shows minimal characters whilst typing.
Even the feedback link doesn't work, taking you to their Q&A page instead. Does anybody at Microsoft even test these things?

Overall: Google Translate free version was much better and Microsoft Translate appears to me to have relied on people's dislike of Google.
However, Google Translate free version has now changed and is as useless as this one. It's all about money and user experience is way down the list of priorities.

    "A Great Translator"

    Posted 2022-05-12

Pros: I like the accuracy of the text to text, text to speech and the conversation mode. There is a lot of availability of the major languages and some minor languages.
Conversation mode is wonderful and an easy experience.

Cons: Could have more availability for smaller languages would be great. The image to text translation can be great for some languages and okay for others.

Overall: Overall, it's a great alternative to Google Translate if you like to avoid Google's services. The conversation mode is a huge selling feature along with their neural machine translation that gives you more natural sounding translations rather than formal sounding translations.
