  • My favorite Python package due to a huge amounts of pre-installed libs, for example Matrix processing, arbitrary precison numbers, etc.

  • An awesome post & must read it.. indguru.com
  • !
  • Great work!
  • For functionality I would give 5. It is an immensely efficient package to use. But because it integrates so many fantastic tools that really shine when combined, stability has been a problem in the last 2 rev. of Python 3.3 and 3.4 on both 32bit and 64bit. As a matter of a fact I have been unable to make the 64bit version run Spyder... Shame But still it is my favourite dev package for Python.

  • the best python calculation enviroment i have used !
  • Prefer this distribution of Python over others because I can install it in portable mode. This allows to have multiple versions installed on the same computer, which is great for compatibility testing. Having it installed on a separate disk, I can even resume my work exactly where I left of, when I have to (re)install Windows.
  • I just tried the version WinPython-32bit-3.3.5.0.exe First impressions on the Ipython2.0 notebook, the Star of this release : - it works, \o/ ! - the new widgets are working on chrome, ie11 and firefox, - more precisely, when playing with the "image processing" example, the experience is : . very good under chrome 34, . a little bit less pleasant under ie 11 (a flickering between images) . end even less pleasant on firefox 28 (a shaking between images) Thanks a lot, Pierre. About features : I whish we could get a python3.4 release in the not too distant future.
  • I'm a 20+ year user (and advocate) of Matlab now experimenting with WinPython in my academic work. I see 4 great advantages to WinPython: 1) the ready availability of application-specific functions is great, 2) the Spyder IDE is very similar to Matlab's, 3) portability of the application (I can run it from a thumbdrive!), and 4) cost (free). I particularly appreciate WinPython packaging everything for me to install, as I am not a computer nor software scientist. I just want to be able to continue to do the things that I can do with Matlab with a minimal learning curve, and WinPython fits the bill well. Lastly, I found "A Primer on Scientific Programming with Python, 3rd Edition" by H.P. Langtangen to be helpful in getting started. Best of luck!
  • This is my favorite setup to work with Python on Windows! Love that you can choose between running it as a portable or register if you want.
