GENERAL INFORMATION 1.1) CHANGELOG 2.) HOW TO BACKUP 2.1) CHOOSING THE PATHS 2.2) CONFIGURE SIMPLEBACKUP 2.3) HOW THE PROCESS WILL RUN 3.) SAVE/DELETE THE CONFIGURATIONS 1.) GENERAL INFORMATION SimpleBackup ( now in version 1.0.1.2 ) is a open source backup tool for full and differencial backups. It's so simple that it doesn't even has a complicated encryption or CPU-blowing compression, it just makes a identical copy of a folder. 1.1) CHANGELOG ( differences between 1.0.0.1 and 1.0.1.2 ) - SimpleBackup uses now QuickIO for directory and file statistics and for copying files - Better error handling - Removed useless method calls and increased speed in the "detecting files" routine 2.) HOW TO BACKUP 2.1) CHOOSING THE PATHS The first step is to choose two directories, the source and the destination. It doesn't matter if a "\" is in the end or not, SimpleBackup will add it. Browse through your files with a dialog or just tipe in the path ( SimpleBackup will notice it ). 2.2) CONFIGURE SIMPLEBACKUP There are a few options you can take: - "Overwrite files, if never" : When a file in the backup/destination folder is older than the original/source file, the original/source file will be copied. - "Copy everything" : Copies every file ( takes longer of course ; can't be taken with "Overwrite files, if never" ) - "Delete old files" : If the backup folder contains files, which doesn't exist in the original/source folder, they'll be deleted. - "Shutdown after finish" : Shuts the system down after finishing the backup process. 2.3) HOW THE PROCESS WILL RUN These are the steps that are done by SimpleBackup: - Detecting files ( counts all files and their size ) - Copying files If "Overwrite files, of never" is selected he might skip some files ( if they are the same ) That was the backup If "Delete old files" is selected he's also doing the following steps: - Detecting files in the destination folder - Checking if a file doesn't exist in the source folder - Deleting those files That was the cleaning process 3.) SAVE/DELETE THE CONFIGURATIONS If you want so save the whole settings, just click on "save" ( located over the listbox ). If you want to delete it, just select the entry and click on "delete".
