No matter what, the project's authors deserve my respect not only for making their solution free/libre and open source but trying to solve this minor but annoying issue with physical buttons of scanner not being functional in GNU+Linux. Thank you for your effort.

For me, this project does a fantastic job. Combined with a lightwight computer like a raspberry pi it transforms old scanning devices into really helpful devices. In my case, without having a desktop computer running, I can do copies or have sent pdf files to my email address. With reference to negative ratings here: Scanbd is just a starting point. To get all this running, solid Linux knowledge is needed. Luckily, there are good ressources which help a lot, e.g. the Arch Linux Wiki. Just google 'scanbd'. Many thanks to all people involved in this project!

To me, this project (like so many others) suffers from a lack of documentation. I'd really like to use it - but do not have any idea how. There are pretty old instructions how to make it work on ArchLinux - but that does not work for ubuntu. Please - dear creators of this project - write a few lines how to install and configure this package!
