Compiled Windows binaries
This directory contains the bundled packages of Rumble for Windows.
Included software
The current installers contain the following bundled software:
- Rumble Mail Server for Windows in both 32 and 64 bit versions.
- Standard pre-built modules:
- Greylisting module: Effective spam protection.
- Blacklisting module: Uses online DNSBL databases to block known spam relays.
- Whitelisting module: Provides leniency towards known badly configured mail servers.
- SpamAssassin module: Very effective spam fighting system. (see http://spamassassin.apache.org )
- RumbleLua: A web interface for managing your mail server.
- TLS module: A module that adds support for STARTTLS in POP3, SMTP and IMAP4.
- Foreman module: A load balancing module that dynamicly resizes worker pools.
- Minimail: An optional, simple webmail interface.
Requirements
Operating system: Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows 8.
Disk space: At least 15 MB disk space
Memory: Anywhere between 8 and 50 MB, depending on server load.
Installation
The installer application will automatically install and set up the version best suited
for your operating system. Due to the current limitation in the GNUTLS library, the 32 bit
version of rumble will be favored by the installation. If you have no need for TLS/SSL,
you can use the 64 bit version to speed things up a bit.
Configuration
The easiest way to configure Rumble is by using the RumbleLua web-interface.
If you have installed Rumble on your local computer, you can find the web interface at
http://localhost:2580
How to run rumble as a 64 bit service
If you wish to use the 64 bit version on your computer (and miss out on TLS for now), you can
run the following command, in an elevated command prompt, to change the service executable:
sc.exe config RumbleService binPath="c:\Program Files\Rumble\rumble_win64.exe"
Security
Each setup file is digitally signed before it's published, so if your computer claims it cannot verify the identity of the author, someone has probably tampered with the setup file.
Bugs and other notices
This is an ALPHA build of Rumble.
While the POP3 and SMTP services should work just fine, there may still be issues with the IMAP4 service, as well as unforseen bugs.
Should you encounter any errors or bugs, please do report them in the forum and attach the file rumble_status.log found in
the rumble installation folder.
