This is a great FREE program that helps even beginner pianist learn the keyboard. It does a fair job in reading midi files meaning you can learn to play most (keyboard) instruments of a song. The skills you can train are great. but it takes a bit of reading before an absolute beginner can get the program running. I already enjoy using this with my grade 5-10 school classes - The programm has a good framework so that I can even prepare school arrangements with a task pages all with (one) file. Unfortunately, the Mac version doesn't work anymore. There are a lot of requests to "pimp up" this learning software. Up until a few years ago, there seemed to be a lot of progress in developing this program, so I hope this programm won't die!

This is awesome stuff, it's really making it easy to learn playing notes from whatever MIDI file you have, nice and easy to use, I am currently using a USB MIDI controller and I know that it also works fine with another MIDI-USB adapter I have. I do not use the GS Wavetable Synth as output, it is simply awful no matter what application you use, instead I get my sound from a standalone VST and by using ASIO there is no delay what so ever, perfect timing with the notes you see. And thinking of it that is a big plus with this application as it is able to share the MIDI-input with other applications simultanously. Not much to complain about, but just a couple of things I would have loved to see in the future: A color option - green on black is for me somewhat more difficult to see, and for training purposes I believe it should resemble real sheets in black on white background. Also maybe a bit wider score or even better - a score that is "stacked" vertically with a marker follows like on a real sheet, scrolling vertically instead. A final trivial issue is the MIDI output option "None" that should not disable the MIDI input (as I use VST to generate the sound and do not need any output). Anyway, great stuff!

An easy software to use and useful for piano practice. I wish it can support USB sound interfaces and not just MIcrosoft GS Wavetable Synth. The latency is quite distracting for practice.

This is a really wonderful piece of free software - I would say its only flaw is that its free, because it really is worth paying for. I set it up with my sons Linux laptop and our Yamaha electric piano, and within minutes he was playing along, learning the keys, and applying the music-knowledge gained from his lessons. I applaud the authors of this software for making such a useful tool - alongside all the other great music apps and plugins and things that we have in the Linux world, this is a real gem. Definitely part of our standard kit as we develop the kids' music abilities .. heck, I might even try to find ways to contribute. Great work guys!

This thing is amazing. I just spent all night playing Final Fantasy music. Once I figured out how to get the piano set up (which didn't require any additional software, just the right cord, and dialing in "PC Mode" on the Yamaha) then it worked right away. I seriously had a blast tonight. Thanks for making this! I even learned how to play the chocobo song. The only feature I'd request is a keyboard graphic at the bottom of the notes to show where to put your finger for those hard chords.

Really pleased so far. Connects fine to the digital piano. Load up your midi file, and practice playing. Nice options for isolating left/right hand, different bars on repeat etc. It is also helping me to read music.

No support for Cyrillic. Perhaps that's why I was unable to load to the program midi file. Design is not beautiful.

Lacks easy configuration, but other than that this was a really good idea that's been implemented very well. Learning the keyboard is indeed a lot of fun, especially since you can play any MIDI you like (even those from games if you like).

Piano lessons have never been more fun.
