The Million Musician Challenge (MMC) is pleased to announce the release of version 0.9.
MMC is a PC game in which you control a number of characters at once using a keyboard (either the computer keyboard or a music keyboard). Each time you successfully catch the falling object, you play a correct note in a tune. In this way, as you progress through the levels you learn to play the music. You could think of it as Guitar Hero for piano, but using a real instrument rather than a simplifed controller.
Start with the song 'Good morning to you' ('Happy Birthday to You'). Move up to Beethoven's 'Fur Elise'.
What's new in 0.9
Allows you to download new songs to learn in the same game.
Simpler single setup screen.
Fixed problem with memory use/blank scrren for high resolution monitors.
Fixed occasional timing issue between the gameplay and the music.
How to use:
Download either the .exe (for Windows systems) or the .jar file (all platforms) to a directory e.g. mmc.
In this directory create a sub-directory called songs.
Download one or all of the song files (goodmorning.solo furelise.solo santiano.solo) to the songs directory.
To launch the .exe double click the icon.
To launch the jar, use the following command:
java -Xms60M -Xmx256M -jar mmc.jar
Keyboard information.
If you have a music keyboard, it should be automatically detected and selected on the setup screen. If you don't have an instrument, use your qwerty keys as a piano. The keys are set up to follow a piano keyboard layout.

Frequently asked questions.
These can be viewed at http://www.free-music-games.net/faq.html
Known problems
Where a Creative Prodikeys keyboard is installed, other keyboards will not be found.
Graphic turns into a white Landscape (using ALT+Tab - and back!)
This unfortunately is a 'feature' of how Java handles its graphics. It does something clever behind the scenes to reuse graphics memory, with this result. As there is a fix coming within Java, we don't plan to make a fix in MMC games. In the meantime, please avoid flicking from the game and back using alt + tab.
Some screen resolutions display in an idiosyncratic way
Some missed notes not shown during gameplay
Key/sprite may become 'stuck' in the up position
