  • I have used from 2014. I am using at simple level: one Account, and about a dozen Recurring Transactions. Excellent program.
  • Every thing you need to keep track of financial spending on credit cards and bank accounts. Superior to most paid for software packages. Used it for 5 years without any problems.
  • On the whole, a very well-designed and comprehensive programme. The only negative point that I have is that although the "Home Page" may be enlarged, the other pages have a fixed size typeface, This is great on a reasonable sized monitor, but on a smaller screen (e.g. a tablet), it can sometimes be rather difficult to read the small figures. This is NOT a complaint - merely a comment, which you may be able to address in further updates.
  • Excellent financial application
  • Good stuff.
  • Money Manager Ex is an amazing piece of software. It's perfect for keeping track of multiple bank and card accounts of all types. I currently have 19 accounts open. It will remind me when I need to make a manual transaction and automatically record regular transactions and transfers. I don't need to use the MMEx Budget features but that's fine too, they don't get in the way like some other money software. No nagging popups, no advertis****ts, you can use as many or as few of MMEx's features as you need. The customisable categories, searches, reports and charts are really useful, they helped me to identify some of my worst spending habits. I have only ever had one small problem with MMEx, just a chart glitch really. When I reported it, the developers investigated it, copied me into their internal emails whilst sorting it out, then when they had sorted it out, checked to see if it worked for me, which it did. Excellent support. I have been using MMEx for over 6 years now. I had become dependent on Microsoft Money, then Microsoft stopped supporting and updating it so it soon became a dinosaur. With Microsoft Money, after a few years the data file became massive and every time you entered a new transaction, the whole file had to be saved, so I was clicking 'Enter' then having to wait for what seemed like ages before I could move on. Even after 6 years and thousands of transactions, MMEx's data file is only 1.65MB and better still, MMEx only saves the last bit of data to that file, so it only takes a fraction of a second. This also means that if you have a computer crash or power outage, you don't lose any data and it's backed up to a free Dropbox account.
  • Downloaded the .deb install file. Installed it, found it in the linuxmint menu. Won't load. Entering 'mmex' in a terminal window gets me the message: mmex: error while loading shared libraries: libwx_gtk2u_core-3.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Is LinuxMint the wrong distro for MMEX? Any ideas?
  • I was looking for a portable program I can keep on my USB stick and this one is absolutely great. It has everything I need and for me, it is much better than some other paid programs I tested. I am kind of paranoid so I have checked this program with a few good antivirus apps - everything was clean. In addition, my firewall is blocking any outbound traffic if I did not grant special permission. So I have no problem with the safety of any program as well. By the way, open-source gives any person understanding programming a possibility to check code himself.
  • It is a good project maxidam.com/
  • Thanks for the program under a free open source license!
  • I URGENTLY need the download for Linux version MMex v1.4, which is no longer offered. I've looked all over the net and cannot locate it. Can someone please assist? Thank you.
  • I am use to using GnuCash and Homebank but saw this and thought I would give it a try. Amazingly small file size for the amount of features it offers. Easy to install and setup with accounts from Current through to Deposit and Investments to Loans and Credit Cards plus automatic currency conversion if using more than one. Aesthetically pleasing but not without little annoyances that reading through their forum they fail to address. The option to change the date format shows 24 to choose from but only one works. There is no option to save unless you use a different file name, it does save and update on exit but I prefer to have the option to save as and when I want for obvious reasons. You have to be careful when viewing accounts as its easy for them to go out of order and is likely to confuse if you aren't wide awake. There does not appear to be any security risk if one reads through their terms and conditions.
  • I was surprised when PC Matic flagged this software as "unsafe". Then I found out why - there is no option to opt out of data collection! I don't install software, especially financial software, that collects information!

  • Alas, import from Quicken QIF failed badly. Admittedly I have a moderately large and complicated Quicken database, including a broker account containing several funds... but the import isn't close enough to reality to be worth the effort of manually fixing, even after I went through and reconfigured all the accounts to be in the proper categories. I really want to get out of Quicken's ecosystem now that they've gone to the yearly model. But if I can't migrate the data, I can't use the app. (For reference, GnuCash threw up its hands and admitted it couldn't read my QIF file. I'm not sure whether that is better or worse than not reporting an error but having parsed the file incorrectly.)

  • Recently switched to this by doing a QIF import from a different service and was up and running quickly. MoneyManagerEX is the only open source one that has true sync with the companion Android app. The others you have to upload changes from your mobile device to the main PC database. You can sync the database through your favorite cloud provider and you've now made your own "cloud" SaaS money manager service and you never have to worry about vendor lock-in. I hope this continues to develop!
  • Best around... free... very, very efficient in use of storage. I currently have 18.5 years of checkbook and credit card records that I can reference instantly. The file that contains all those record is 1.417 Megabytes... not Gigabytes MEGABYTES. I once tried to use Microsoft Money for personal financial records and it needed 6 times that much disk space to store 2 years and it would crash if you tried to put more in. Been using MMEX for at least 15 years. First rate. Use and support MMEX.

  • I prefer it even better than other personal finance-related apps.
  • Simple and very good, please keep developing
  • When a purchased program (MoneyDance) completed failed to deliver I started looking for alternatives. This looked good and the majority of the reviews were good. Unfortunately, it also came loaded with Trojans. I couldn't even get it loaded because it set off all sorts of lockdowns and warnings in both Windows and my antivirus software. I'll keep looking.

  • Best free money application!
  • Super Software, es wäre noch echt cool wenn statt des Punktes auch ein Komma akzeptiert würde. Meinetwegen auch als Einstellung. Very nice Software, it would be nice if money manager ex contains a setting to replace "." by ","
  • Very nice personal finances app.
