Try the shiny new installers
 Install_OpenJUMP-*.exe (for windows)
 Install_OpenJUMP-*.jar (for linux & mac)
Or
 Extract the distribution zip file.
 OpenJUMP-*.zip

To start OpenJUMP run the launcher for your platform 
from the <appfolder>/bin directory.
