GAP is a truly marvellous advanced free software package but it can be tricky for non-expert users to install. Gap.app removes this barrier with a super-simple installation process for macOS. It also provides a handy visual interface, so that you can edit a GAP file as text in one window and see the result in a GAP window by double-clicking on the file name (or using Shift-Option-O to reread the last file into the workspace). Gap.app allows beginners to get started with GAP programming quickly and easily.

The combined installer conveniently ships GAP (free software computer algebra system, the reference when it comes to computing with groups) as well as Gap-dot-app. If you already have GAP, the smaller download of just Gap-dot-app can be pointed to it. The combined installer is updated for each major GAP release, and the Gap-dot-app interface itself gets improvements and bug fixes along the way.
