Chromium B.S.U. is a really cool game and it is fun contributing with the current maintainer Paul Wise! Yes, it is difficult, so you shouldn't try to "play it through". Enemies are auto-generated. For me it was a really good start for developing my universal elite game trainer "ugtrain" for Linux as there is a single HeroAircraft object. This helped me a lot learning more about reverse engineering.
