  • Very nice and powerful software, you can rip any CD and convert the file into numerous format, also into two, three or more at the same time: ROOM (rip once output many)! And the project still maintained, it is good news for the future.
  • This product is insanely underrated. It extracts CD's, fetches metadata, encodes with almost every encoder in existence. The only criticism I would give is that the interface is a bit dated, but it also makes it pretty straightforward. I use Linux so I convert all my files to the king of lossy codecs, OPUS 128kbps.
  • I have been using this product for years. I'm thrilled someone has the knowledge and time to construct such a fine product and the dedication to stay with the project for years to improve it as operating systems and hardware change. Too many excellent projects hosted on this platform (SourceForge) fall victim to boredom or changing personal priorities and are left to die slowly with no one picking up the project. I see it with great applications on Debian, Ubuntu, and FreeBSD, where many applications need a maintainer or the package is broken and needs a maintainer. Also, think about contributing to the project when you download the files. You could contribute time coding if you have the skill set or funding. This is an excellent piece of software so act like it. Send the project team or code writer a few dollars for coffee if you have used the software for a while and like it.

  • I've been using it for years and it just keeps getting better and faster, I couldn't be more grateful to the kind individuals sharing their product.
  • Reliable and easy to use batch converter.
  • Have looked far and wide for a CD audio encoder and file transcoding app and Free Audio Converter works extremely well on multiple operating systems. The developer responds to questions posted on SourceForge and continues to develop new versions to support new operating system iterations. The app itself is fast and easy to use. Support this developer with a PayPal donation people! Especially if you are like me with a sizable audio CD collection you need to encode and stream from the cloud or via a media server/streamer device.
  • The best CD ripping program, even paid software does not come close. Love it!
  • Great utility - currently my favorite audio ripping tool I have used. It is also great to see it supported and improve over time. Great work!
  • I've been using fre:ac for about 5 years now. It always works as designed. This is great when adding a slew of music files that I want converted to mp3 or flac.
  • Great app, simple to use,
  • Unable to convert my WAV files. Upon discovering this, figuring out how to uninstall this was not straightforward.

  • 2 Cool ! ;-)
  • A simple but incredibly useful tool!

  • The best free audio converter I know. And still getting better with every release.
  • Simple, easy, and fast. Quick CD ripping (which is exactly and only what I was looking for). Lacking metadata editing capabilities (unless I missed it). Docs need to be finished, though most options are self explanatory.
  • Great tool, works fine for me.
  • This tool is quite convenient especially when you need to extract audio from CD or write it to CD (CD ripping, etc.). But if you need to just convert an audio from any format and any codec to standard everywhere-playable mp3/320kbps, then Mp4 Video 1 Click for Windows is more preferable (search at sourceforge or google it). The Mp4 Video 1 Click adds items into Windows context menu, so you can navigate your files with File Explorer and perform all the conversion with automatic loudness adjustment in one mouse click.

  • Cool App for extracting CDs. The only weak point really being the layout of the fields to fill the track info.
  • Very good software, I recommend it.

  • Great software. I highly recommend it.
  • An audio converter that actually works and doesn't put watermarks on the output.
  • Nice product with a fatal flaw good: supports constant bit rates and latin characters (inverted question marks, ellipses) really bad: wipes out the following tags: subtitle, description, podcast description, lyrics, podcast category, podcast url and truncates year. support on the users main site could also use some improvement
  • very fast, thought my cd might shatter. i dont think its as good as CDex (which i am still looking for thru all of my old downloads) but its close.
  • Weirdly would not show up on Win10 start menu or in the 'cortana' search of the computer. Had to go to 'Program Files (x86)' and start the .exe file but so far so good. Doing exactly what it claims and with a good interface. Thanks people!
