Backup Zoom Investment Portfolio Manager

Portability and Archive

The usual software and data installation is into a C:/ZoomPortfolio folder but this can be moved and renamed if you wish. The software and data is fully contained within this folder so it may for example, be copied onto a USB stick and run from there or copied onto another computer.
To archive your data (i,e. at the end of a tax year) you should store a copy of the whole folder including the application executable so that you have a working copy if the software evolves and a later version becomes incompatible with your archived data.
You should take a Backup copy on a regular basis, before installing a software upgrade and before deleting closed positions.
A backup copy should occasionally be stored on another device such as a removable disc drive or network computer to guard against disk-drive failure on your working machine.

Data file Backup and Restore

Your data is wholly contained within the PORTFOLIO.FDB file found in your "ZoonPortfolio\data" folder.
On application startup, a backup copy of the data file is taken. 10 backup copies are stored and then the oldest is deleted.
It is unlikely that your data file will become corrupted however you may wish to revert to an earlier verion if you make a mess of your records.
Select File | Restore Data from the main menu, This will show the backip files available together with the date and time that they were created. Select a file to restore it as the current data.
