The only thing left before 1.0 arrives is to find a shell script to replace the CMD files included for non-Windows systems. I can't do that as I don't know how. If someone is interested in working on the problem, please let me know.

The hold-up had been the symbolic links in the sample portion of the site. Those have been replaced with actual copies of the files that were linked to. I didn't want to do that, but my SVN client, TortoiseSVN, won't accept symbolic links. Presumably the authors thought Windows doesn't support symbolic links. Well, it didn't, at least until Vista and the version of NTFS it came with arrived.

They might be restarted later, but I ended up concluding such a program might as well replace this system.

This might happen. It would be at least somewhat portable. For that reason, I rejected C# (which I know). I am thinking of using wxWidgets with wxDev-C++ as the IDE. Unfortunately, I don't know wxWidgets yet. So bear with me. Also, until someone more knowledgeable in platforms other than Windows joins the project, there will be no official project support for Unix, Linux, OS X, iOS, or Android.

We also have our website up. Code check-in is waiting on some technical problems to be solved and will happen once those are resolved.
