After a little down feelings we came back, stronger. We're the optimisation masters (a gain of 6800% over the initial function!!)

Yes, we already give up.
In fact, we understood our project was impossible to complete. Technicaly, it is... But, with wich perfomance... Just take a look at http://xmldb4php.calexo.org/test3.php you'll understand what I mean !!
So, the project XMLdb4PHP is dead, until a solution is found to divide time took to browse an XML file by, ... say 100 !
