After more than two years of development, Xfce 4.4.0 has just been released.
Xfce 4.4 features new tools such as the much awaited Thunar file manager as well as several huge improvements of its core components.

A lot of bugs were fixed during the last two months and several new features were added as well.
The brand new Xarchiver 0.4.0 is now included, trash support was added to Thunar and xfdesktop, and the overall memory usage was reduced.
We are glad to announce that Xfce 4.4 beta1 (4.3.90.1) is now available for download on SourceForge.
Xfce 4.4 features the much awaited new file manager "Thunar" as well as

After 2 months of developpment, Xfce 3.8.14 has been released.
It includes several enhancements, including :

xfsound is now able to use multiple DSP devices if supported by the soundcard/kernel driver, digital clock in xfce panel now uses "leds" to display time, new option to reorder items in xfce panel menus, new rewritten user menu editor for xfwm, nww theme engine in xfwm, added gdm (GNOME Display Manager) support and a lot of changes in xfwm, including event handler to fix possible race condition resulting in huge stability improvement... read more
This release fixes a few bugs, including the one that caused the panel to crash when compiled on AIX using xlC. New features include the use of DISABLE_XFCE_USER_CONFIG to avoid any user configuration/customization
(for publicly accessible terminals or set-top boxes). A few other things were improved.
Xfce 3.8.6 is no released.
It includes various updates and improvements, including a complete rewrite of xfmenu, the tool in charge of loading GNOME and KDE menus in xfwm and a new theme engine for xfwm.

Xfce 3.8.3 is out. It fixes some remaining small bugs from 3.8.2 and slightly improves a few tools.
It mainly fixes one problem that was not stopping the user from starting more than one xfwm session at a time (bad, bad...)
There are some other small improvements, like the auto-close of drawer when the corresponding icon on the panel is pressed, or avoid usage of textures in palettes when running in 256 color mode to reduce color allocation (and more that I forget).... read more
This release includes some optimizations that have been removed from 3.8.1, add a menu editor for Xfwm and fixes a few small bugs (especially one causing Compupic and some other Java apps to SIGFPE).
What a nice problem to have... XFce got slashdotted for the umpteenth time this morning. All traffic for XFce.org has now been redirected to sourceforge. I'll change the Rewrite after the "slashdot effect" subsides. Cheers!
Xfce 3.8.1 has been released. It's a major bugfix release that fixes a race condition. Upgrade highly recommended.
