No

Using the hyperref package in XeLaTeX one expects to be able to set the pdfproducer attribute. However xdvipdfmx overrides it. Details are described here:
http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/16438/how-to-change-the-pdf-producer-metadata-with-xelatex-on-miktex
I am not sure if this is intended behavior, or just a bug.

It would be nice if this is fixed, because otherwise one has to use a third-party program to change the PDF's metadata. This reduces confidence of integrity of the final PDF file, and can also increase its size w/o any apparent reason.

Should be fixed in next release.

Thank you for the prompt response. A quick note that Heiko Oberdiek, the maintainer of hyperref, will need to be notified after this is implemented, because currently setting pdfproducer={} in hypersetup triggers the message:

"Package hyperref Warning: pdfproducer: xdvipdfmx will use its own setting"

I can send the notification when needed.

    Are there any improvements yet?

The warning is still issued by hyperref while the pdfproducer is properly overwritten.

I have raised this with the original author: https://github.com/ho-tex/hyperref/issues/76#issuecomment-441213410

The hyperref issue was resolved. Can we close this one?

It looks like xdvipdfmx is still overwriting the Producer metadata field. Can we fix it please?
