#79 pattern select without requester command

its not a bug so I'm doing a feature request.

It seems to me it would be worth having ways doing selections 'without requester', so it could be used in buttons and also with scripts with a view on things being done.

example:
if trying doing a thing as a button that would select some video files, it could have

pattern select *.avi
pattern select *.mpg
pattern select *.mp4

also such a button can be without actual processing, only selecting, operations being done with other buttons.
so one could have some combined preset selections patterns in buttons

currently there are multiple ways available to do operations on a limited file list
* selections
* script stack
* virtual dir
* filters
+ maybe others I don't know

amongst those the selection is the simpler, the better intuitive as its visual, its also the nearer to the original filemaster/dopus style.
stack is invisible
virtual dir is completely another list
filter seems as virtual dir

each the other are useful yet require quite a setup.

It seems to me a scriptable selection, pattern select without requester, could be much easier to use if being a new user.
