#2 word length/speed ratio doesn't work

In 1.00 rc2 (as well as rc1), it looks like the word length / speed ratio doesn't have any effect. Regardless the setting for uniform speed mode, words are always streamed at a constant pace.
I had the impression right away, and to test it I put the speed ratio sliders to extreme settings. Even then, long and short words are displayed equally long.

My config: Vista Home Premium SP1, nothing special.
