- summary: Problem with moving between collections --> Collateral: Problem with moving between collections
For version 1.0.0, when I move between Collections, the
Collections open in the Collections pane (this was
implemented to avoid confusion, since any Collection the
user moves to always opens in the Original view).
The problem now is that although the new Collection
opens in the Collection pane, it opens with a "Select
Annotated Datum" message (requiring me to select one
datum in a group with more than one entries for one
variety and one group) even if the last time I was in
that Collection, I was on an entry that only had one
entry per variety per group.
In order to be able to do anything in the Collection, I
have to select a datum, or click on the x to close the
message window. After I have done that, and in some
cases also OK-ed a couple messages that some groups
are not the same length, the Collection finally properly
opens in the Collection pane.
When I then go to the Tabulate pane, the pane has
shifted so that the gloss list to the left is hidden, and
before I can start working, I have to move the pane
again.
The reason for all this seems to be the following:
> when the Collection opens again in the original view, it
means that all data in an entry again have that
strange "?" group tag, which allows data to be Tabulated.
> the problem is that "?" usually means that no actual
Annotation has taken place yet. I usually have more
than one datum per variety, and they all have different
lengths. Since they all have the same group tag "?", it
looks to the program as though they should all belong to
the same group, and obviously they do not have the
same length.
> It appears that although the move to a new Collection
opens the Collection in the Collection pane, the program
has to do things in Tabulate before it can properly open
the Collection pane (all this also happens if the last pane
I was in before moving to a different Collection was NOT
the Tabulation pane).
SUGGESTED SOLUTION:
> entries which have not yet been annotated should not
have the "?" group tag
> if non-annotated entries have to have this "?" group
tag, there should be something to insure that this group
tag cannot be Tabulated. Entries which have this group
tag should
