Version 2.16.2.0 Unicode x86

This is my first time here, so sorry if I don't do the right thing!

I'm having a problem when I save a project that compares a folder on my local drive with a folder on a network share, or even an external USB drive. I can browse to the second location, and enter it and run the comparison. However when I come back to the saved project, the secondary location comes up as a white icon rather than a yellow folder and it says path is invalid. The path has not changed, and if I re-do the browse to location and set it again, it works. Why doesn't the location stay saved? I do not have this issue comparing to folders on my local computer.

thanks for your help.

Does the folder name contain special characters such as &?
If so, it has been fixed in the latest version 2.16.18.
You can download the latest version from the following URL

    https://winmerge.org/downloads

Thanks for this! Yes one of the folders contained "&" (less quotes) so I changed it to "and" (less quotes) ...and it worked!

I seem to be able to access the network drives now....though it may be that the particular folders I was looking at before also contained special characters.

If I install the newer version, do my existing project files still work or do I have to resave them? They are kept separate in a folder on my drive & I usually access these quickly by opening Winmerge then keyboard shortcut CTR-J which opens that folder. I imagine that they would still open from within the new version as before?

Existing project files will still work in the new version of WinMerge, and the ctrl+J keys will also work.
