WebStrips 0.4.3

WebStrips 0.4.3 is available for download at the standard location. The most important addition is support for JavaScript comic plugins (engines) using Java based interpreter called Rhino (http://www.mozilla.org/rhino/). JavaScript engines will become mandatory soon as they are much safer and easier to develop, but for now Java classes are still supported.

New webpage

WebStrips is migrating its webpage to an external server that will give me more freedom than the SourceForge servers.

WebStrips 0.4.2

WebStrips 0.4.2 is available for download. Many improvements and bugfixes comparing to 0.4.1. The most important thing is that Windows users can now install comics ... a really awkward bug, but since Windows is not my platform of choice and I get so little feedback it took some time for me to find that one.

Important note: The comic API has changed so none of your currently installed comics will work after upgrading. A simple reinstallation should work and all of your archive data should remain intact (if you are upgrading from 0.4.1). For now you can still download comic plugins from http://luka.tnode.com/index.php/articles/view/13 ... read more

WebStrips 0.4.1

As a first step towards WebStrips 0.5 I am releasing WebStrips 0.4.1 with many new features.

WebStrips now supports preloading that should (considering normal use) enhance user experience. The problem is though that the mechanism is not tuned properly yet and may cause some weird behavior regarding memory usage.

The other major change is that comics are now loaded to WebStrips dynamically depending on user preferences. This also means that default installation does not have any comic included but you can download them here: http://luka.tnode.com/index.php/articles/view/13... read more

WebStrips 0.4

After a long pause a new release of WebStrips is available. I have finally made it to 0.4. It is not really much difference from 0.3.3 on the outside, but the important thing is that I have completed the roadmap goals and I can move on to new exciting challenges.

As always I encourage everyone to submit bugs and ideas ... so far the response has been really really poor ...

Project on hold

I have planned to release version 0.4 before the beginning of the year, however things came out differently and now I have some exams so expect it somewhere in the beginning of March.

Building from sources

I have seen today that there are quite many downloads of the source code package (with quite many I mean 50% of all downloads and not some large number). I just want to state that the application requires a library that I have not released into the world yet because it lacks some documentation. If anyone is really trying to build the application please let me know this and I will publish the missing code.

WebStrips 0.3.3

The newest WebStrips release (0.3.3) is the first release on the SourceForge. This is the last release before 0.4, the feature set is more or less complete according to the roadmap. From now on bugfixes and other improvements are the main priority (please use the project bug tracker to report bugs). To highlight the main features of this release: zoom widget makes comic zooming easier, comic archive browsing is supported with some comics but it is still experimental. Some improvements have been made with the downloading process, but more changes will probably be required.
The project web page is still being worked on so some information may not be there. Use project forums to remind me of that.
