I found log file in c:\Users\win10\AppData\Local\Temp\VCXsrv.0.log Inside logfile I saw that vcxsrv tries to load a .Xwinrc . I have no .Xwinrc I found out that on that PC that not worked properly vcxsrv had version 64.1.14, other PC in same network hat 64.1.20. I updated to 64.1.20 , then topmost works. But still strange, that my setting in system.XWinrc are still not considered : deleting "noframe" no frame appears on that PC. In other a other office with 12 Win10-PCs the version vcxsrv-64.1.14.5.installer.exe...

However, I can raise windows when I ssh myself into the remote server and set the DISPLAY variable and execute "xhost +" (example only, I usually scope xhost to just the destination machine) so I opted not to downgrade. VcXsrv is running on Win10 10.0.19045 Build 19045 .2604 version 22H2 Experience pack 120.2212.4190.0 Client machine runs Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS

Having switched from wslg to VcSrv a few days ago i also just run into this (or similar problem). Restarting X server mitigates it but obviously a bit painful, so a fix in a release would be appreciated :-)

I am experiencing the same problem. Xlaunch files that attempt to start a program on a remote computer no longer work: "plink: unknown option -ssh" Reverting to 64.1.20.9.0 solved it for me as well. I am running the latest version of PuTTY x64 (0.77).
