well i gave up on the tenth try of setting up my sql
so.. i guess its fixed

A simple solution would be to use a pre-packaged version of MySQL, like the one you find in XAMPP [1]. I don't know what OS your are running, but XAMPP should run and install just fine on linux, windows and OS X. It contains preconfigured versions of PHP, Apache and MySQL, so you won't run into the problem you are having now anymore. Give it a try, it might do the trick. :-)
hi i have installed msql 4.0 but the install wizard still tells me that it is not installed could somebody assist
