Serosis picked up the ball with this project and now UQM Megamod is the more up-to-date and bugfixed version of UQMHD at the present point in time. the codebase of that is on 0.8.
January 10, 2021, the release of Ur-Quan Masters 0.8 was announced on the website, with quite a list of bug fixes and other updates. How does the HD version compare?
I added the game to my GOG Galaxy service so I could see it as part of my collection of games, but noticed it did not have a thumbnail or icon, or background. I decided to use the game art to create images for GOG. I have shared them here for others to use as well.

At this point, Vaughan, I would recommend Serosis's Megamod project instead, as it's more up-to-date.

I'm having the same problem - I just reinstalled the HD version on a new laptop and it says it's missing this DLL file. I've tried both the Microsoft solution and downloading the DLL individually, but it still gives the same error. What am I doing wrong?
Ahh, a simple fix was all it took. Just right click on the program, go to Properties, Compatibility, them check "Run this program as Administrator" and Apply.
The attached game file loads. I can play the game after this load. But when I attempt to save to the next save slot, I get kicked out of the game to my desktop. Then I load the game and find that nothing was saved. The curruption started a handful of saves before this last one. In those saves, I would get kicked out to the desktop but game data was preserved (it seemed) and I could continue to play. Just read someone said they had to run as an admin. Tried one more time, that was the ticket. Makes sense too since the installer has to run elevated and the "initial launch" was executed by the installer.

You might want to clarify - is the music different from normal when it's using the 3DO music? If so, that's the 3DO track - if it's not different from when you have 3DO music disabled, there might be some file missing somewhere, or a bug?

I dont' think it will ever hit Final, but some updated versions (hd remix, megamod) contain bug-fixes that've been ported back into the HD codebase, but it hasn't been built since then.

I've always prefered the original music from the 3DO version, so I've set the game up for that, which is great, but... when I'm in quasi space, the music is totally different.
